Description
The Martin 000-18 Golden Era is a pre-war-style auditorium guitar built around the tonewoods and construction details of 1930s Martin production. This pre-owned example is in excellent condition with minimal wear. The Adirondack spruce top is braced with scalloped Adirondack spruce in a forward-shifted X pattern, a period-correct build that gives the soundboard more dynamic range and responsiveness than standard production bracing. Genuine mahogany back and sides keep the voice focused and woody, while the ebony fingerboard and bridge add clarity to the note attack.
The 24.9" scale length reduces string tension relative to a long-scale guitar, which many players find makes single-note runs and bends feel more relaxed. The modified V neck profile is a departure from modern C-shapes and rewards a deliberate, wrapped-thumb grip - worth noting for players accustomed to contemporary necks. The 000 body format and this mahogany-and-Adirondack pairing suit fingerstyle and flatpicking work particularly well, and the guitar has a strong fit for blues, folk, and acoustic roots styles.
