Private Stock is the summit of Paul Reed Smith: instruments built one at a time with woods, inlays, and finishes that never reach a production line. As one of the largest PRS dealers in the world, we keep a rotating selection of Private Stock pieces that most shops see once a decade, and every one is inspected and set up before it ships.

About PRS Private Stock

Established in 1996, Private Stock is PRS's no-limits program: a small team in Stevensville, Maryland builds each instrument to order with hand-selected exotic tonewoods, custom inlay work, and finishes mixed for that single guitar. No two are alike, which is exactly the point. Our Private Stock rotation regularly includes Custom 24s, McCartys, 513s, and one-off commissions, both new and collector-grade pre-owned. Each listing is the exact guitar photographed, serial number and all, and once it sells there is no reorder.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Private Stock different from a Core PRS?

Core models are PRS's standard American production line, built to a consistent spec. Private Stock instruments are built one at a time by a dedicated team using woods and appointments outside the normal catalog: exotic tops, one-off inlays, custom colors, and construction requests. Think of it as PRS's version of a commissioned instrument.

Can I play a Private Stock guitar before buying?

Yes. Our showroom in Roswell, GA keeps our Private Stock selection on the wall, not in a vault. Call ahead and we will have any guitar you want to try ready when you arrive.

Do pre-owned Private Stock guitars get the same prep?

Every guitar we sell, new or pre-owned, is inspected and professionally set up before shipping, and anything over $3K gets a complimentary PLEK fret dress on Georgia's only PLEK station.
