The Custom 24 is the guitar Paul Reed Smith founded the company on, and it is still the center of the PRS line: a carved maple top, 24 frets, and a voice that moves from chime to crunch with one pickup switch. As one of the largest PRS dealers in the world, we stock the Custom 24 at every level, from SE to Private Stock.

About the PRS Custom 24

The Custom 24 debuted at PRS's first NAMM show in 1985 and has anchored the catalog ever since: a carved figured-maple top on a mahogany body, a 25 inch scale, and 24 frets with humbuckers that split convincingly. The same design now spans the whole PRS range, from the accessible SE and street-smart S2 lines to Core production, dealer-commissioned Wood Library runs, and one-of-a-kind Private Stock builds. Our Custom 24 wall rotates constantly and includes finishes and top woods you will not see in a catalog; every listing is the exact guitar photographed.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between SE, S2, and Core Custom 24s?

SE models are built overseas to PRS designs and are the most affordable way into the platform. S2 guitars are made in PRS's Maryland factory with streamlined appointments. Core models are the full American production spec with figured tops and PRS's premium hardware and pickups. All three are real PRS guitars; the differences are construction detail, wood grade, and price.

What does 10 Top mean on a PRS?

A 10 Top is a Custom 24 (or other maple-top PRS) whose figured top exceeds PRS's standard grading: exceptional flame or quilt coverage across the whole top. PRS grades these at the factory, and they carry a premium. We usually have several 10 Tops in stock and photograph every top exactly as it is.

Will my Custom 24 be set up before it ships?

Every guitar we sell is inspected and professionally set up before shipping, and anything over $3K gets a complimentary PLEK fret dress on Georgia's only PLEK station.
