About Paul Reed Smith Guitars

Paul Reed Smith founded PRS Guitars in Annapolis, Maryland in 1985, and the company has grown into one of the most respected guitar builders in the world, standing alongside Fender and Gibson. Carved maple tops, bird inlays, and the balance of modern playability with vintage warmth made the Custom 24 a standard, and players from Carlos Santana to John Mayer and Mark Tremonti have kept PRS designs on the world's biggest stages.

As one of the largest PRS dealers in the world, we stock the lineup in real depth: Core Custom 24s and McCarty 594s, bolt-on CE 24s, Silver Sky signature models, dealer-spec Wood Library runs, one-of-a-kind Private Stock builds, and SE models that bring the same design language to a working player's budget. New, pre-owned, and new old stock, with each guitar listed individually by serial number.

How to Choose a PRS

PRS builds the same core designs at several price points, so the fastest way to narrow the field is to pick your series first, then your model, then the wood and finish you want to look at every day.

Start with the series

SE models are built overseas to PRS designs and offer the most guitar for the money. S2 guitars are made in the Maryland factory with streamlined appointments. CE models add the snap of a bolt-on maple neck, and Core models are the flagship builds that made the company's name. If you want something nobody else has, look at Wood Library and Private Stock.

Custom 24 or McCarty 594

The Custom 24 is the original PRS: 25 inch scale, 24 frets, and a modern voice that handles everything from clean funk to high gain. The McCarty 594 leans vintage, with a shorter 24.594 inch scale, 22 frets, and pickups voiced for classic warmth. Players who grew up on Strats tend to reach for the Custom 24, while Les Paul players usually feel at home on a 594.

10-Top, Wood Library, and Private Stock

A 10-Top is a Core guitar with a figured maple top graded from PRS's best wood. Wood Library runs are dealer-specified batches with hand-selected tops and fretboards, built in limited numbers. Private Stock is the top of the mountain: one-at-a-time builds from the company's rarest wood, made to order or in small dealer runs.

New or pre-owned

Pre-owned and new old stock PRS guitars get the same inspection and setup as new stock before they ship, and trade-ins are welcome if your current guitar is funding the next one. If you are weighing two options, call us and we will describe both guitars honestly, including weight and neck feel.
