The Soloist has been Jackson's flagship since the mid 1980s: a neck-through superstrat whose heel-free joint and compound-radius board get faster the higher up the neck you play. Every Soloist on this page is in stock and ready to ship, including our shop-exclusive Righteous Run customs.

About the Jackson Soloist

What separates a Soloist from every other superstrat is the neck-through build: the neck runs the full length of the body, so there is no heel to fight at the upper frets and sustain carries the way a bolt-on never quite does. Add the compound-radius fingerboard, flatter as you move up, and you have the design that defined 1980s metal and never stopped being relevant.

We stock the Soloist across Jackson's range: the USA-built American Series SL2 and SL3 from Corona, California, the MJ Series SL2 built in Japan, and the Pro Plus SLA3 models that bring the recipe to a friendlier price. We also commission our own: the Righteous Run Custom Soloists are a batch built exclusively for Righteous Guitars in color-shift finishes you will not find anywhere else.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a Jackson Soloist and a Dinky?

The Soloist is neck-through: the neck runs the length of the body for a heel-free joint and long sustain. The Dinky is Jackson's bolt-on sibling, a little snappier in attack and usually a little friendlier in price. Same pointy headstock, same speed, different construction.

Where are Jackson Soloists made?

It depends on the series. American Series Soloists are built in Corona, California. MJ Series Soloists are built in Japan. Pro Series and Pro Plus Soloists are built overseas to Jackson's spec. Each listing on this page states its series in the title.

What is a Righteous Run Soloist?

A custom batch of Soloists built exclusively for Righteous Guitars, finished in color-shift paint that moves between colors as the light hits it: green to gold, purple to green, and red to blue. When this run sells out, that finish is gone.
