About Furch Guitars

František Furch began building instruments in 1981, working underground because private enterprise was banned in communist Czechoslovakia. After 1989 the workshop grew into a proper company, and the color-coded ranges Furch builds today all come from the same Czech facility.

Each color in the Furch range marks a distinct level of wood pairing and appointments, and familiar body shapes run across the ranges, from OM and grand auditorium to dreadnought. The Vintage series takes a traditional turn in voicing and looks, and Masters Choice instruments carry individually selected master grade tops. Furch also builds instruments most factories skip, like the Blue Baritone, and we bring those in when we can.

The guitars are built entirely from solid tonewoods, back and sides included.

Furch builds every guitar in Velké Němčice, Czech Republic. The company dates to 1981, when founder František Furch built instruments in secret because private manufacturing was illegal under the communist government.

What do the Furch color names mean?

Each color marks a range with its own wood pairings and appointment level. Body shapes repeat across the colors, so you pick the range for the woods and trim, then the shape for how you play. Masters Choice models add individually selected master grade tops.
