Bourgeois guitars are built in Lewiston, Maine under the direction of Dana Bourgeois, a luthier best known for voicing each top by hand. OMs are the house specialty, and the slope shoulder dreadnoughts have a following of their own. Every guitar ships insured from our Roswell, Georgia showroom.

About Bourgeois Guitars

Dana Bourgeois has been building and voicing flattops since the 1970s, and hand voicing is the heart of the operation: tops are tap tuned and adjusted individually rather than cut to a fixed spec. The Maine shop builds the professional line, including the OMs and slope shoulder dreadnoughts the brand is known for.

The catalog spans three tiers. Maine-built professional models sit at the top. The Touchstone series delivers Dana's designs and voicing profiles at a working player's price, built in partnership with Eastman. The Downeast series is the entry point to the brand, built by Eastman in China. Model names carry between tiers, so a Touchstone Signature OM follows the same recipe as its Maine-built counterpart.

Frequently asked questions

Where are Bourgeois guitars made?

The professional line is built at the Bourgeois shop in Lewiston, Maine. The Touchstone series is built in partnership with Eastman to Dana Bourgeois's designs and voicing specifications, and the entry level Downeast series is built by Eastman in China.

What makes Bourgeois voicing different?

Dana Bourgeois tap tunes tops individually, adjusting thickness and bracing by ear and feel rather than building to a fixed measurement. Because wood varies from set to set, voicing each top individually is how the shop keeps the sound consistent from guitar to guitar.

Do you set up Bourgeois guitars before shipping?

Yes. Every guitar is inspected and set up before it ships, and every guitar we sell over $3,000 gets a PLEK setup in house, dialed to your preferred string gauge and tuning.
