About the Jackson Dinky

The Dinky earned its name honestly: the body is about seven-eighths the size of a standard double-cut, which tucks it in close and keeps it light without giving up the 25.5 inch scale. Bolt-on construction gives it a snappier, more immediate attack than the neck-through Soloist, and the compound-radius fingerboard is the same recipe: comfortable chords low, effortless bends high.

The range we stock runs from the Pro Series DK2 through the Pro Plus DKA and quilt-top DKAQ, the Japan-built MJ Series DKR, and the DK Modern family, which is where Jackson puts its newest ideas: EverTune bridges that never drift, multiscale fanned frets, caramelized ash bodies, and the seven-string MDK7. What do DK2, DKA, DKR, and MDK mean?

They are Jackson's Dinky model codes. DK2 is the classic two-humbucker Pro Series layout, DKA and DKAQ are the Pro Plus arch-top models (Q means quilt maple top), DKR is the MJ Series Dinky built in Japan, and MDK is the DK Modern family, including the seven-string MDK7.

Is a Dinky good for metal and hard rock?

That is exactly what it was built for: fast neck, hot pickups, and hardware that stays in tune under abuse. The DK Modern models push it further with EverTune bridges and multiscale fret layouts for low tunings that stay tight and intonated.

Do you have 7-string Jackson Dinkys?
