Description
The Martin DE Retro Plus is a dreadnought acoustic-electric built for players who want the broken-in voice of a well-seasoned instrument without hunting the vintage market. The torrefied solid spruce top is the headline here - thermal aging accelerates the cellular changes that typically take decades of playing to achieve, so the top responds with the openness and resonance of a mature guitar right out of the case. Paired with solid mahogany back and sides and scalloped X-bracing, the spruce-over-mahogany combination delivers full projection with focused midrange and warmth that suits both heavy strumming and fingerpicking. The ebony fingerboard and bridge add clarity and sustain, while the 25.4" scale length and PA Profile neck with High Performance Taper give the fretting hand a modern, fast-playing feel backed by a satin finish that won't slow you down mid-set.
An LR Baggs Element undersaddle system with onboard volume, tone, phase controls, and a built-in tuner makes this equally at home on a stage as in a living room. Style 18-inspired appointments - faux abalone inlays, aging toner finish, open-gear tuners with butterbean knobs - give it the visual language of a classic Martin without the fragility of a true vintage piece.
