This Gibson Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul Reissue Light Aged is built for players who want the tone and construction of a late-'Burst-era Les Paul with a neck profile that plays faster than the chunkier 1959 spec. The 1960 SlimTaper mahogany neck pairs with an Indian rosewood fingerboard at a 12" radius and 24.75" scale - a combination that suits players who cover a lot of fretboard without sacrificing vintage feel. The lightweight mahogany body is topped with a 2-piece figured maple cap, both joined with hot hide glue, keeping the resonance tight and the weight at a manageable 8 lbs 10.8 oz.
Unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 humbuckers deliver an articulate, touch-sensitive PAF voice that responds well to amp-side gain control - back off the volume and they clean up; push the amp and they bloom with controlled sustain. The Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment adds period-correct wear to the nitrocellulose lacquer and hardware without the heavy patina of the Ultra Light or Heavy Aged tiers, and the no-wire ABR-1 bridge rounds out the historic hardware package. This pre-owned example is in excellent condition, with minimal wear beyond the factory aging.
