Santa Cruz Guitar Company has been building some of the world's finest steel-string acoustic guitars by hand in Santa Cruz, California, since 1976. Founded by luthier Richard Hoover, the company produces only 500 to 700 guitars per year — 75 percent of which are custom orders. Each Santa Cruz acoustic is hand-voiced and tap-tuned using violin-lutherie techniques, resulting in instruments with exceptional balance, sustain, and tonal complexity that mass-produced guitars simply cannot replicate. Hoover has long championed responsibly sourced and salvaged tonewoods, including old-growth redwood and reclaimed timbers.
