The Bourgeois Downeast LDB Hawaiian Blues is a compact 00/Grand Concert built entirely from solid figured koa, and it's a strong choice for fingerstyle and roots players who want a boutique-quality instrument at an accessible price point. The LDB body format - Dana Bourgeois's personal favorite shape - pairs a 25" scale length with hand-carved scalloped X bracing, which keeps string tension manageable and the top responsive across a wide range of playing dynamics.
All-koa construction delivers a balanced tonal character: articulate highs, warm mids, and a voice that tends to run larger than the body size suggests. The ziricote fingerboard and bridge bring a dense, stable playing surface to complement the mahogany neck's soft-V profile, which sits naturally in the hand during position shifts up and down the neck. A 12" fingerboard radius keeps single-note work comfortable without fighting the player on chords. At just over four pounds, the guitar is easy to hold through long sessions. It comes with a hardshell case.
