The Furch Vintage 1 D-SM is a full-size, square-shoulder dreadnought built on an all-solid Sitka spruce top with African mahogany back, sides, and neck - a tonewood combination that tends to produce a focused, mid-forward voice with strong fundamental response across strumming and fingerpicking. Furch voices each soundboard individually, analyzing and adjusting top thickness to suit that specific piece of wood, which is a practice more commonly found on higher-priced instruments. The 25-9/16" scale length adds tension and note separation, while the 15-3/4" fingerboard radius keeps the fretboard relatively flat - practical for players who move between chord work and single-note runs.
The Soft V neck profile sits comfortably whether your thumb anchors behind the neck or hooks over the edge. Ebony on both the fingerboard and bridge provides a firm playing surface and contributes to note clarity and sustain. Furch's CNR System - a dual-action truss rod in a carbon casing - locks the neck angle at the heel and allows precise relief adjustment in both directions, supporting long-term stability. This guitar suits a player who wants a traditional dreadnought platform with tighter quality controls than the price point might suggest, and it comes with a gigbag.
