The Gibson 50's J-45 Original is a slope-shouldered dreadnought built around a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back, sides, and neck - a pairing that produces a woody, warm tone with focused midrange that sits well in a mix without crowding vocals or other instruments. The hand-scalloped X-bracing and hot hide glue compound dovetail neck joint reflect period-correct construction priorities, and the nitrocellulose lacquer finish allows the top to vibrate more freely than a thick poly finish would. Gibson's 24.75" scale length makes fretting and bending easier than a longer-scale dreadnought, and the round neck profile suits players who prefer a rounder, fuller grip.
The LR Baggs VTC undersaddle system means this guitar is stage-ready out of the case without any modification - it's a practical choice for a working songwriter or acoustic player who needs a reliable amplified signal. Period-correct appointments include a bone nut and saddle, cream button Grover tuners, and a traditional belly-up bridge. This guitar ships with a hardcase, and as a new guitar priced over $3,000, it includes our complimentary PLEK setup and limited lifetime warranty.
