The Martin 000E Retro Plus pairs a torrefied solid spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides in the 000/Auditorium body format - a combination that delivers warm, midrange-forward tone with strong string-to-string balance across fingerpicking and strumming styles. Torrefied spruce is thermally treated to mimic decades of aging, so the top responds more freely than a standard spruce top from the start. Scalloped X-bracing works with the 000 body to keep the response touch-sensitive and articulate, making it a practical choice for players who move between dynamic fingerstyle passages and fuller strummed playing.
The 24.9" scale and 16" fingerboard radius suit a range of playing styles, and the PA Profile with High-Performance Taper is a medium-to-shallow C shape that stays comfortable through extended playing sessions. An ebony fingerboard and Modern Belly bridge add durability and consistent saddle seating over time. The LR Baggs Element undersaddle pickup delivers a natural, dynamic amplified tone with onboard volume and tone controls, so the guitar moves from stage to recording without needing an external preamp. This is a working player's instrument built with premium materials at a sub-$2,000 price point, and it ships with a softshell case included.
