The D-42 sits near the top of Martin's standard series, built on a dreadnought platform with an East Indian rosewood body and Adirondack-grade Engelmann spruce top that drives strong projection and note separation across the full frequency range. The ebony fingerboard and bridge add stiffness to the playing surface and saddle contact, which tightens attack and sustain, while the modified low oval neck with high-performance taper keeps the feel fast and accessible for a range of playing styles.
