Description
The Martin HD-28 is a dreadnought built on the same all-solid rosewood-and-spruce platform as the D-28, but with construction and appointments that directly affect how it plays and sounds. The key difference is scalloped, forward-shifted X-bracing, which allows the lower bout to vibrate more freely and produces stronger bass response, more open sustain, and greater projection than straight-braced construction. The ebony fingerboard and bridge add note clarity and crispness compared to rosewood appointments, and the bone nut contributes to clean note definition and sustain.
At 25.4" scale with a GE Modified Low Oval neck and High-Performance Taper, the neck moves efficiently across positions without requiring a heavy hand.
