Nothing else looks or sounds like a big Gretsch hollow body. Gold sparkle binding, a Bigsby arm, Filter'Trons with that famous chime: this is the sound of rockabilly, early rock and roll, and half of Nashville's history.

About Gretsch Hollow Bodies

The full hollow bodies are the icons. The White Falcon has been Gretsch's flagship since 1955, and we stock Vintage Select reissues of both the '55 and '59. The Country Gentleman is Chet Atkins' guitar and George Harrison's mid-Beatles workhorse. The Nashville carries the 6120 lineage that Eddie Cochran and Brian Setzer built rockabilly on, with Setzer's own Hot Rod signatures alongside it, and the Tennessee Rose and Tennessean round out the family with a slightly slimmer, darker take.

If you play loud, the center-block models solve the hollow body's one weakness. The Broadkaster LX and the Falcon Center Block run a solid spruce block down the middle of the body, which kills feedback at stage volume while keeping the Gretsch chime and the Bigsby. Most of what lands on this wall is a limited run or a one-off, so the page rotates; if a specific Falcon or 6120 is on your list, call us and we will tell you what is inbound.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a White Falcon in stock?

Usually, and everything shown on this page is in stock right now. Falcons come through as Vintage Select reissues and limited runs, so the exact model rotates. If you are after a specific Falcon, call us; we typically know what is inbound before it lands.

What is the difference between a full hollow and a center block Gretsch?

A full hollow body like the Falcon or Country Gentleman is all air inside: maximum resonance and chime, but it will feed back at high stage volume. Center-block models like the Broadkaster LX run a solid block down the middle, trading a little of that air for feedback resistance. If you play loud with drive, the center block is the practical pick.

Which Gretsch is best for rockabilly?

The 6120 lineage is the rockabilly guitar: that is what Eddie Cochran and Brian Setzer played. Today that means the Nashville and the Brian Setzer Hot Rod signatures, both usually on this page. Filter'Trons, a Bigsby, and a hollow body are the whole recipe.
