This Gibson Custom Shop Limited 1968 Les Paul Custom Reissue Heavy Aged in Olive Drab is a limited-run build that pairs period-correct construction with Murphy Lab heavy aging - meaning the checking, wear, and hardware patina are applied by hand to replicate a well-played vintage original, not simulate one. The mahogany body carries a carved maple top, a combination that produces the focused midrange and sustain the late-'60s Les Paul Custom is known for. The Authentic 1968 mahogany neck uses a long tenon joint for added resonance and stability, and pairs with an ebony fingerboard at a 12" radius with mother-of-pearl block inlays and reissue medium jumbo frets.
The '68 T-Top Reissue humbuckers are voiced for articulate, open character with tight lows - closer to the clear, dynamic edge of the era than the warmer output of earlier PAFs. A hand-wired harness with 500K CTS pots and Black Beauty capacitors keeps the signal path period-accurate. Hardware includes an ABR-1 bridge, stop bar tailpiece, and Kluson Waffleback tuners. At $8,700 new, this guitar comes with a hardshell case, Certificate of Authenticity, complimentary PLEK setup, and a limited lifetime warranty - practical assurances for a guitar at this investment level.
